Michael J. Baker spends two years and logs more than 275 hours of footage across 6,000 miles of the Northeast, following paranormal investigators, mediums, scientists, and skeptics through their actual casework in New England. The film began as a 15-minute short and grew after investigators kept inviting Baker to tag along, until he had enough material for a feature that premiered at a National Amusements theater in Revere, Massachusetts, made on no budget with every participant working for free. Baker's method is to stay out of the way: no scripted lines, no staged encounters, no coaching of subjects, and no narration steering the interpretation. What ends up on screen is EMF readings, interview sit-downs, and field investigations presented as the people involved describe them, accurate or not, with the disagreements between researchers and skeptics left intact rather than resolved. It plays less like a case for the paranormal than a record of what the field actually looks like from the inside, methodology, disputes, and all.
