Seventeen strangers arrive at O.U.R. Ecovillage in the Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island for a four-month program with one concrete goal: build a 550-square-foot house using natural architecture and permaculture methods. The film follows their daily work, from laying foundations to raising walls with materials like cob and timber, alongside instruction in sustainable food production and group leadership. Participants come from different backgrounds and different reasons for signing up, and the camera catches the friction that comes from putting that many personalities into one small, physically demanding project, as well as the moments when the group actually pulls together to solve a construction problem or settle a disagreement. Ecovillage staff and instructors appear throughout, explaining why the techniques matter beyond this one build. The house's completion closes the film, but the real record here is the process: what it takes, logistically and interpersonally, for seventeen people to live and build together for four months and come out the other side with a finished structure and a working model of low-impact living.
