Ireland's DIY music scene gets its own record here, built from live footage and audio of bands that mostly played outside any label system over roughly the last two decades. The film comes out of Dublin Community Television, made by the Community Of Independents collective that works alongside the channel, and it leans on interviews with people who were actually part of building this scene rather than outside commentators. There's no single band or venue at the center; instead the film moves across the wider culture that grew up around self-released records, small gigs, and word-of-mouth promotion in Dublin and beyond. The interviews carry the history: how people started putting on their own shows, why they stayed independent, what the scene looked like as it grew. It plays as a document made from inside the community it covers, using its own footage archive rather than borrowed clips or narration to make its case.
