A Buddhist monk leaves the monastery to test whether he can live as an ordinary layman, and the film follows him over more than a decade as he disrobes, marries, divorces, and eventually returns to monastic life. The camera stays close through each stage of that reversal, watching him navigate a marriage and its end as a man who had spent years training to renounce exactly those attachments. There is no narrator standing outside the experience to explain it; the film simply tracks the arc from robe to civilian life and back again, letting the practical details of that return carry the weight. It plays as a case study in what monastic vows actually cost to give up and to reclaim, with humor and awkwardness sitting alongside the more searching moments. The film's interest is less in doctrine than in the lived mechanics of a man testing his own commitment against the ordinary demands of marriage, work, and disappointment before choosing, again, to put the robe back on.
