Alarma! is a Mexico City tabloid that has run photographs of murders, car wrecks, and narco violence for decades, and this film follows the magazine's photographers and editors through a city where, as one staffer puts it, a police officer is killed almost every day. Crews race cops to crime scenes, working around tape and barricades to get a usable shot, and staff describe the sorting logic behind what makes the cover: theft, cartel killings, drunk-driving deaths, anything that counts as "the bad." The film treats the magazine less as sensationalism and more as a running ledger of the city's violence, printed daily because the supply of material never runs out. Interviews with the people who assemble each issue lay out the practical mechanics of covering death for a living, from negotiating with police at a scene to deciding which bodies and which crimes are graphic enough to sell. It stays close to the newsroom and the street rather than widening into policy or politics.
