Bill Gates and Steve Jobs never appear on screen together in this film, but their rivalry defines an entire era of computing, and the documentary sets their careers side by side through interviews with colleagues, former employees, and industry observers who worked alongside each. Gates built Microsoft around Windows, treating software as the real engine of computing and pursuing licensing deals and market dominance with a bluntness that made him plenty of enemies. Jobs took the opposite route at Apple, obsessing over design and usability to produce the Mac, the iPod, and the iPhone, and demanding the same perfectionism from everyone around him. The film traces both men's management styles, their public feuds, and the very different companies those styles produced, without trying to crown a winner. It also notes the odd overlap in their stories: two college dropouts from the same generation, building competing empires that ended up shaping how nearly everyone uses a computer. The comparison stays personal rather than technical, built on anecdotes from people who actually sat in meetings with them.
