Britains Broken Families

In a society that values strong and supportive families, it can be heartbreaking to see those relationships strained or broken. “Britain’s Broken Families” shines a light on the work of the Family Intervention Project (FIP) in Newcastle, whose mission is to help improve the lives of the area’s most disadvantaged and disruptive families.

The film offers a unique look at the intensive, around-the-clock work of the FIP workers as they seek to implement a promise made by David Cameron to turn around the lives of 120,000 troubled families by 2015. Every day, they work with families that other authorities (such as social workers, police, education, and housing) have been unable to help. For these families, the stakes are high – if they don’t make changes, they risk losing their homes or even their children.

Through compelling storytelling and intimate portraits of the families and FIP workers involved, “Britain’s Broken Families” offers a poignant and inspiring look at the challenges and triumphs of working to heal and rebuild troubled relationships.
