Beth was sexually abused by her father until she was about nineteen months old; her mother died when Beth was one, leaving her and her infant brother Jonathan in his care. The film centers on Beth describing that abuse directly to camera, in a flat, unhurried voice that never matches the content of what she is saying. She draws a crayon picture of herself in bed, crying, while her father touches her, and narrates the scene the way another child might describe a trip to the store. That same calm surfaces again when she talks about the abuse she went on to inflict on Jonathan, the detail that turns this from a story about a victim into a case study in how early trauma can rewire a child's sense of right and wrong. There is no narrator softening any of it; the footage is Beth talking, and the camera simply stays on her face while she does.
