John Gotti ran the Gambino crime family out of Ozone Park, Queens, earning the nickname "Dapper Don" for his tailored suits and "Teflon Don" after beating three trials in the 1980s. This film hears from his children, Angel, Victoria, and Peter Gotti, who speak on camera about growing up inside that world, the parties and houses alongside the constant threat of arrest or worse. It traces the 1985 killing of boss Paul Castellano, which Gotti ordered after fearing Castellano would move against him over a drug-dealing crew, and the rise that followed as he took control of the most profitable crime family in the country. The unraveling comes through underboss Sammy Gravano, who flipped in 1991 after hearing himself implicated in murders on FBI wiretaps, testimony that helped convict Gotti in 1992 on racketeering and five murder counts. Gotti died in federal custody in 2002.
