Walt Disney spent his career treating technology as a storytelling tool, and this film tracks that habit from Steamboat Willie's 1928 sync-sound breakthrough through his theme parks to the unrealized EPCOT, an experimental city he was still designing when he died in 1966. Disney Legends and historians including Jim Korkis, Sam Gennawey, Bob Gurr, and Rolly Crump appear on camera, several of them former Disney artists and Imagineers speaking from firsthand work with him, tracing how his interest in sound, animation, and mechanical engineering fed forward into transportation systems and urban planning ideas. The film also addresses the darker rumors around his management style and treatment of women and minorities in the workplace, weighing them against the testimony of people who worked beside him. EPCOT gets particular attention as the clearest expression of his ambitions beyond entertainment, an attempt to answer what he saw as deteriorating city life with a planned community built around emerging technology. The film covers his full arc, from Mickey Mouse's debut to that unfinished city, as a case for Disney as an engineer of the future rather than just an entertainer.
