Hannah's Anecdote
Hannah Bradley is 26 when doctors find an aggressive brain tumor, and surgery and radiotherapy still leave her future severely limited. Her partner Pete Cohen starts searching for other options and finds Dr. Stanislaw Burzynski, a physician who has spent over four decades developing his own cancer treatment outside the mainstream. The film follows the couple as Hannah is accepted onto phase 2 of an FDA trial for the treatment in Texas, tracking the logistics, cost, and uncertainty of pursuing care built around a controversial protocol. Interviews with Hannah and Pete carry the film rather than outside experts, staying close to their daily decisions and the toll of clinical trial life: travel, paperwork, waiting on scan results. Made by Jamie Lowe and Pete Cohen, the film does not resolve the wider medical argument over Burzynski's methods; it stays inside one couple's attempt to buy Hannah more time and lets the trial's outcome speak for itself.
