Ayahuasca-shamanism centers this film on Iquitos, the Peruvian Amazon city that has become a hub for the plant medicine's global trade. The camera follows the ceremony itself, the brewing of the ayahuasca vine, the chanting icaros, the vomiting and visions that traditional healers treat as part of the cure, and sets that footage against interviews with three different kinds of witnesses: shamans who learned the practice from elders, foreign tourists who flew in for a retreat, and researchers studying what the plant actually does. The film uses those competing voices to ask a plainer question than most psychedelic documentaries bother with: what happens to a centuries-old healing tradition once it becomes a business built around foreign money. Shamans describe training that once took years now compressed into workshops for paying visitors, and the film does not resolve whether that shift counts as access or exploitation. It stays in Iquitos rather than following anyone home, letting the rainforest ceremonies and the tourism built around them sit side by side.
