Vyacheslav is 41, homeless, and unemployed, sleeping in apartment block stairwells and suburban trains to stay out of the cold. Fighting is the one constant in his life, and the film follows him as he travels across Russia to compete, from Vladivostok in the east to the Chechen Republic in the south, picking up matches wherever he can find them. He treats the ring as the one place where his circumstances do not define him, and the footage shows him training and competing with the same seriousness as fighters who have homes and sponsors. The film's real tension is time rather than poverty: his opponents keep getting younger, and each fight raises the question of how much longer his body can keep up with his willingness to show up. There is no narrator smoothing over the contradictions of his life, just a man who sleeps rough and still gets on trains across the country to fight, because fighting is the one thing he refuses to give up.
