Eight-year-old Victoria "Tori" Stafford was abducted, raped, and murdered in 2009, and this 16x9 investigation looks at the woman who helped kill her. Terri-Lynne McClintic became the Crown's star witness against her former partner Michael Rafferty, and the film uses her courtroom testimony, in which she described Tori's final hours in graphic detail, as the spine of its account. Both McClintic and Rafferty were convicted on all counts and sentenced to life in prison, and the program works backward from that verdict into McClintic's own history: a childhood marked by neglect and instability, contact with child welfare systems that did not intervene, and a relationship with Rafferty that investigators and interviewees describe as controlling.
