The Gospels agree that Jesus Christ appeared to his followers for forty days after the resurrection, then say almost nothing about what happened in that stretch of time. The New Testament gives the period a handful of paragraphs total, a few resurrection appearances and scattered instructions, then moves on to Pentecost and the early church. This film sits with that gap, asking what Jesus might have taught his disciples in those final weeks before the ascension and why the writers who witnessed it chose to leave so much out. It works from the biblical text itself rather than outside evidence, treating the sparse record as the puzzle: if these forty days mattered enough to be singled out, what was lost when they went largely unrecorded? The approach is close reading and argument rather than archaeology or historical reconstruction, built around the idea that the compressed ending of the Gospel accounts might hold the most important teachings Jesus gave, delivered to an audience already convinced and no longer needing convincing of who he was.
