Persian is a Western Iranian language from the Indo-Iranian branch of the Indo-European language family. In Iran, Persian is also called Farsi, while in Afghanistan, the Persian language is known as Dari and in Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, it is called Tajik. Persian and Dari Persian are written using a version of the Arabic script while Tajik Persian is written using the Cyrillic script. The roots of the Persian language can be traced back thousands of years, making it one of the oldest living languages. First, there was Old Persian (600 BCE to 300 BCE), then Middle Persian (4th century BCE to 9th century AD), followed by Modern Persian (9th century AD to present).
Persian is an enchanting language, written in a beautiful script and spoken in countries that are both breathtaking and fascinating.
