St. Agnes's National School in Crumlin and St. Ultan's in Cherry Orchard, two primary schools in Dublin, make music tuition compulsory for every pupil, taking their model from El Sistema, the Venezuelan program that used orchestras to pull children out of poverty. Cameras follow both schools across a full school year as children who have never held an instrument learn to play one, with teachers and parents describing what changes at home and in the classroom once practice becomes part of the daily routine. The four-part series stays observational, tracking individual students rather than narrating a thesis, and lets the shift in classroom behavior and attendance emerge from what the footage shows rather than from voiceover claims. Teachers note fewer discipline problems and a change in how students talk about their own futures once they are also musicians. The series treats the two schools as a live test of whether an intervention built around an instrument can do work that punishment and counseling could not.
