On July 17, 1996, TWA Flight 800 exploded off the coast of Long Island, killing all 230 people aboard. The official finding blamed a spark in a fuel tank, but this film follows physicist Tom Stalcup and a group of eyewitnesses, investigators, and former officials who argue the evidence points to a missile. Radar technicians, FBI whistleblowers, and people who watched the sky that night describe streaks of light rising toward the plane before it broke apart, and the film lays their accounts against the National Transportation Safety Board's reconstruction and the FBI's handling of witness statements. Interviews with figures involved in the original investigation raise questions about altered testimony and destroyed evidence, and the film builds its case that federal agencies suppressed findings rather than let a missile strike become public. It stays focused on the paper trail and the people who signed sworn statements, using their on-camera testimony as its main evidence rather than dramatization.
