The idea that any two people on Earth are connected through a chain of about six acquaintances started as a mathematical curiosity and became a subject scientists actually test. This film traces where the six degrees concept came from and what research has tried to confirm or complicate it, moving from early studies of social networks to the newer science of complex systems. It looks at how the human brain processes and maintains relationships, and how that biology shapes the size and shape of our social circles. A large section deals with technology: how social media and other digital platforms have changed the practical distance between strangers, sometimes shrinking it, sometimes just making it visible. The film treats interconnectedness as an open research question rather than a settled fact, presenting findings from network science alongside their limits. No single case study or researcher anchors the film; it stays at the level of the concept itself and the evidence gathered so far.
