Arjan Roskam and Franco Loja, the self-described Strain Hunters from Green House Seed Company in Amsterdam, travel to Morocco to track down old-growth cannabis landraces before they disappear. The country is one of the world's largest hashish producers, and the pair head into the Rif Mountains to find farmers still growing local strains that predate the hybrids sold in seed catalogs. Cameras follow them through rural villages and fields, watching plants get identified, sampled, and collected so their genetics can be preserved and, eventually, cross-bred with cultivated medicinal strains back in Europe. The film treats this as conservation work: landraces from regions with no scientific infrastructure may carry cannabinoid profiles nobody has studied, and once a valley switches to cash crops or hybrid seed, that genetic line is gone for good. There's no narrator laying out data or citing researchers here, just Roskam and Loja on the ground, talking to growers and explaining what they're looking for and why, in the same loose travelogue style as the rest of the Strain Hunters series.
