Undocumented migrants in Europe face a system built to keep them invisible, and this film follows several of them through the daily mechanics of that invisibility. It opens inside a Dutch immigration detention center, where people without papers are held indefinitely while awaiting deportation, with detainees describing overcrowded cells and no access to proper medical care. In Berlin, Senegalese hip hop artist Sister Fa introduces the film to friends living without legal status, some pursuing residency permits through the courts, others taking whatever odd jobs they can find to stay afloat. In Amsterdam, volunteer doctors and nurses run a clinic that treats migrants the official health system will not, stitching wounds and managing chronic illness with donated supplies. The film moves between these three settings without a narrator smoothing over the contradictions: legal channels that rarely work, informal networks that barely hold, and a detention system that runs on the assumption that people will eventually give up and go home. Produced by Al Jazeera, it stays close to the people living the story rather than the policy debate around them.
