The Path of Compassion’ depicts the Buddhist heritage of India by visiting the ancient Buddhist sites located within the country. The story of Buddha and development of Buddhism is traced through these ancient art and architectural artefacts. Starting from sites down south in Andhra Pradesh, to the temples in Ladakh, the journey of Buddhism to other parts of the world like Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Indonesia, Thailand, Tibet is also shown. The film takes us through the life of Buddha and his path to enlightenment with the great pilgrimage sites of Lumbini, Bodhgaya, Sarnath and Kushinagar. Kings whose patronage helped in spreading the religion, like Ashoka, are also mentioned in the film.
