Astronaut Jessica Meir spent months aboard the International Space Station watching Earth turn beneath her, and this short film catches her return to a planet transformed by the pandemic. She describes the disorientation of coming home to lockdowns, empty streets, and a world gripped by a crisis she watched unfold from orbit, far from the news cycle that consumed everyone below. Footage from the ISS shows the view that shaped her perspective, city lights and weather systems sliding past with no borders visible from that height. Interviews trace how isolation in space, designed for and studied by mission psychologists, compares to the isolation millions suddenly experienced on Earth in 2020. The film uses Meir's unusual vantage point, literally outside the crisis, to ask what distance does to how people process a shared emergency. It stays close to her personal account rather than broadening into policy or science, keeping the runtime tight and the focus on one astronaut's re-entry into a changed world.
