9/11: One City Remembers

EN · STATUS: [ STREAMING ]

Produced by RiversideTV, the City of Riverside's own television studio, this documentary looks at September 11th through the lens of one California community's response. Its focus is FEMA's California Task Force 6, an Urban Search & Rescue team based in Riverside that deployed to New York City in the days after the attacks to work the wreckage. The film uses interviews with task force members and city officials alongside archival footage to reconstruct what that deployment looked like on the ground, from the initial callout to the searches through the rubble. Rather than retelling the national story of the attacks, it stays local, treating Riverside's own participants as the throughline and using their memories to honor both the victims in New York and the risks taken by the rescue teams sent to help. It is a civic commemoration piece as much as a historical account, built to preserve one city's specific connection to that day for people who lived through it locally.
