9/11 - Conspiracy Road Trip
Comedian Andrew Maxwell sets out to change the minds of five British 9/11 truthers, driving them across the United States to the sites the attacks actually happened: Ground Zero, the Pentagon, and the field outside Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Each believer arrives with a specific claim, thermite in the towers, a missile at the Pentagon, no debris at Shanksville, and Maxwell puts them in front of structural engineers, air traffic controllers, and first responders who worked the wreckage. The film records the arguments without editorializing much beyond Maxwell's own visible frustration and patience, letting long stretches of unscripted conversation show how each participant responds when a witness contradicts their theory. Some concede points on camera; others adjust the theory instead of dropping it. Filmed a decade after the attacks, the trip works as a document of how conspiracy belief actually behaves under direct confrontation with evidence, rather than a debunking reel aimed at people already convinced.
