An MIT graduate architecture studio built around the idea of disobedient interference in how space and knowledge get produced. Students build diagrammatic models that cut across chemistry, law, economics, art, architecture and urbanism to examine the social responsibility and hidden agendas embedded in the systems that shape everyday objects and surroundings. Assignments push students to model relationships between material and immaterial forces of production, from the connection of mind, body and space to the infrastructural, geographical and ecological complexities of the Anthropocene. The course, offered through MIT OpenCourseWare, includes the studio syllabus and project briefs used in the actual class, though as an OCW release it provides materials for self-study rather than instructor feedback or a certificate. It suits students already familiar with architectural theory and model-based design methods.
