Terry Beeman choreographs, dances, and runs his own dance company, and this short film follows him through the work behind that title. He's also the creator of the Mental Head Circus show staged at the King King venue in Los Angeles, and the film uses that production as a window into how he builds movement from idea to stage. Rehearsal footage and behind-the-scenes moments sit alongside Beeman talking about his process, what draws him to choreography, and what it takes to run a company on his own terms. The film stays close and personal rather than broad, treating Beeman's daily practice, not a general history of dance, as its subject. It is a brief, intimate look at one artist's working life rather than a survey of his career, built around access to rehearsals and his own account of why he keeps making this kind of work.
