Anhelina Leshak, a 22-year-old Ukrainian who settled in Trier, has become a first point of contact for other Ukrainians, helping with tax forms and job applications while pursuing a longer-term goal of representing migrants in politics. Bernd Frietsch, 63, left his job as a bassoonist to work in migration advice, accompanying clients to medical appointments and untangling bureaucratic applications, with some relationships turning into friendships. Entrepreneur Reiner Rudolphi runs a different kind of project in Sembach, creating apprenticeships for young people from Rwanda, betting that the skills they gain will eventually feed back into Rwandan industry once he sets up companies there. The film follows all three through their daily routines and conversations with the people they assist, building a picture of integration as unglamorous, ongoing work done mostly by volunteers rather than institutions.
