Ayrton's Wish: A Tribute to Ayrton Senna
Ayrton Senna died in 1994, but the foundation he set up before his death still funnels money into education for poor children across Brazil. Director Tamir Moscovici builds this short tribute around that afterlife, tracing how the three-time Formula One champion's fortune and name became a vehicle for scholarships and after-school programs rather than a museum piece. Interviews with people who worked alongside Senna, and with children now benefiting from the Instituto Ayrton Senna, sit alongside archival racing footage and photographs from his career at McLaren and Williams. The film, backed by Gran Turismo and PlayStation, treats the racetrack material mostly as a backdrop for the real subject: what Senna wanted his success to buy for people who never saw him drive. It is a compact portrait built more on testimony than spectacle, aimed at viewers who already know the racing legend and want to see what he did with it off the track.
