In the Bekaa Valley of Lebanon sits Baalbek, a Roman-era temple complex built atop stone platforms that dwarf anything else from antiquity. The film examines the site's megaliths, including the so-called Stone of the Pregnant Woman, a single quarried block weighing close to a thousand tons that still lies half-buried near the ruins. Cameras move through the standing columns of the Temple of Jupiter and the surrounding foundation walls, where blocks weighing hundreds of tons were somehow cut, moved, and fitted with startling precision long before modern machinery existed. The film sets this engineering puzzle against the region's long history of conflict, noting how wars and shifting rule over Lebanon have complicated excavation and study of the site. Archaeological opinion on who built the platform and how is presented alongside the questions that remain unresolved, keeping the focus on the stones themselves rather than easy answers.
