Interviews with survivors and a handful of aid workers who help people escape lay out how the trafficking pipeline operates, luring recruits with fake job offers before trapping them behind guarded walls. The reporters trace the money and the chain of command outward from the compounds, following leads that connect the scam centers to a wider criminal network and, ultimately, to a Chinese Triad boss allegedly profiting from the operation.
