A man is arrested on an attempted murder charge and walked straight into South Cotabato Jail in the Philippines, a pre-trial detention facility built for six hundred inmates now holding more than two thousand. The film follows his first days inside as a participant on the inside, sharing cramped cells with men accused of murder, rape, and drug dealing, none of whom have been convicted of anything yet. Some have waited years for a trial date. The camera and narration track how the facility actually runs: guards keep the perimeter, but day-to-day order, sleeping space, and food are controlled by the prisoners themselves through their own hierarchy. Interviews and observational footage inside the cell blocks show the improvised rules newcomers must learn fast to avoid trouble, from where to sleep to who to answer to. The film stays close to one person's disorientation and calculation rather than offering outside commentary, letting the overcrowding and the waiting speak for the system's failures.
