On a farm outside Cohoctah, Michigan, in the late 1980s, Klansmen, Aryan Nations members, and skinheads gather for a rally, and this film puts a camera in the middle of it. Cross burnings, Nazi salutes, and chants of "sieg heil" play out on screen alongside blunt, unscripted interviews with the people doing the chanting, including white supremacist leader Tom Metzger explaining his movement's goals in his own words. Rather than narrating from a safe distance, the filmmakers let subjects talk themselves into contradictions, revealing the mix of grievance, ideology, and theater that holds these groups together. Archival clips trace the lineage from older Klan iconography to the newer skinhead scene converging at the same event. The effect is less exposé than close observation: extremists posing for a camera that does not flinch, confident enough in their beliefs to say them plainly. It remains one of the few documentaries built almost entirely from direct access to organized American neo-Nazis rather than reenactment or distant commentary.
