Moritz was 13 when he posted a video of his body online for the first time; the bullying that followed left him convinced he was too chubby, and by 15 he says flatly that "pretty people have it easier in life." DW Documentary follows him and four other young men for close to a year as they move between childhood bedrooms, social media feeds, and gym floors, tracking how each one comes to measure himself against an ideal physique. The filmmakers sit in on workouts, film the boys scrolling through the images that set their standards, and talk with them about the gap between how they look and how they think they should look. Interviews with the young men and glimpses of their family lives sketch out where the pressure actually comes from, whether it is classmates, influencers, or the mirror itself. The film asks a plain question: has the route to masculinity narrowed down to one body type, muscular and lean, with no room left for boys who are simply slim or heavy.
