Akanksha Sood Singh is a successful filmmaker and mother of two who says she loves her life but hates her body. Indian beauty standards demand flawless skin and a particular figure, and she describes the shame she feels every time she looks in a mirror. Photographer and activist Roshni Kumar steps in as her guide, taking Akanksha through exercises and conversations meant to separate self-worth from appearance. The film follows their sessions together, including moments where Akanksha confronts childhood memories and family expectations tied to her body image, and watches how she responds when pushed outside her comfort zone. This is one episode of DW's 'Choices: Dare to Dream' series, which follows young women testing whether they can override family and community expectations to make their own choices. Here the question is whether Akanksha can trade a lifetime of self-criticism for something closer to acceptance, and the film stays close enough to her face and voice to let you judge for yourself whether it sticks.
