Modern slavery in Britain turns out to hide in plain sight, inside ordinary suburban streets rather than at the margins of society. The film follows investigators and support workers tracking cases of forced labor and domestic servitude, from cramped houses where victims are kept working under threat to the raids and rescues that bring some of them out. Survivors describe how they were recruited, often with promises of legitimate jobs or a better life, and how isolation, confiscated documents, and debt bondage kept them trapped once they arrived. Police and anti-trafficking officers explain how they identify potential victims and the legal hurdles in prosecuting traffickers who operate within otherwise unremarkable communities. The film treats this as a British problem rather than something happening elsewhere, pointing to specific neighborhoods and cases rather than abstractions. What emerges is a picture of an exploitation network running quietly alongside normal daily life, dependent on neighbors and employers not asking questions.
