Filmmakers Francine Strickwerda and Laurel Spellman Smith turn their cameras on a subject most documentaries skip past: the cultural fixation on breasts. The film traces how a body part became a measuring stick for femininity, tracking the history behind breast obsession and the politics that keep it in place, from advertising and media imagery to the choices women make about their own bodies in response. Rather than treating the topic as a punchline, Strickwerda and Smith use interviews and archival material to show how deeply the obsession runs, and how it shapes everything from self-esteem to medical decisions. The tone stays observational, letting the women on screen describe their own relationships with their bodies rather than delivering a lecture. It is a small, specific film about a subject usually treated as trivial, and it treats it as exactly what it is: a serious cultural pattern with real consequences for the people living inside it.
