Toronto after dark, told through the people who keep it moving once the sun goes down. The Neon Riders decorate their bikes with colored lights and take to the streets for nighttime rides that double as rolling parties. Jill, 28, spends her nights trapping raccoons instead of hitting the clubs. Quinn paints constellations that carry on Indigenous traditions, and the members of Latino band 6ix Pal Mundo work on a new sound for the city. The film moves through PATH, the world's largest underground pedestrian tunnel network, where storefronts and crowds shift character block by block like a trip through different continents. Seven million people from more than 230 nations live in the Greater Toronto Area, and residents repeat the same line: work hard here and you can build a life. The film doesn't skip the strain that growth brings, noting that the city's homeless population has doubled in four years to over 15,000. DW's camera treats the city as a set of overlapping night shifts rather than a single story.
