Myuran Sukumaran and Andrew Chan, two Australian members of the Bali Nine drug trafficking ring, sit inside Kerobokan Prison after losing their final legal appeals against execution. Reporter Mark Davis and the SBS Dateline team return to the prison to film the aftermath of the ruling, including Sukumaran's mother arriving to see her son for the first time since the decision came down. The camera stays close on the family's reaction rather than the legal argument itself, tracking what it looks like to receive a death sentence with no further recourse. Interviews and prison footage sit alongside the practical detail of what happens next for two men convicted a decade earlier of trying to smuggle heroin out of Bali. Sukumaran and Chan were executed by firing squad on Nusakambangan prison island on 29 April 2015, a fact the film cannot yet show but that hangs over every scene of the mother's visit and the prison corridors leading to it.
