Conspiracy Road Trip: Creationism

EN · STATUS: [ STREAMING ]

Five young creationists from the United Kingdom board a bus with comedian Andrew Maxwell for a tour of the United States, where the film puts their belief in a young Earth up against the people and places built to challenge it. Stops include a natural history museum, a dig site where fossils are pulled from rock layers dated in the millions of years, and conversations with scientists who lay out the evidence for evolution and geological time. The group also visits creationist institutions that argue the opposite case, so the trip cuts both ways rather than functioning as an ambush. Maxwell plays the skeptical host, pushing each participant on where their certainty comes from and what, if anything, would change their mind. Arguments happen in real time, on camera, between people who are not actors, and the tension between the five travelers themselves grows as the trip goes on. The film ends without converting anyone, which is closer to the point than a tidy resolution would be.
