Sixteen-year-old Danylo was on the edge of a professional ballet career in Kyiv when the war forced him to flee. In Mainz, Germany, dance teacher Irina Starostina, once a celebrated dancer herself, takes him into her home and her school so he can keep training six hours a day. "Can you save us?" his father asked her on the phone; she says she didn't hesitate. The film follows daily life inside one of the few schools in Germany that trains dancers to a world-class level, tracing Irina's eight-year classical program and the international network she built during her own career. It also shows the cost the escape left on Danylo, and Irina's parallel work organizing aid shipments back to Ukraine. The story builds toward the Spoleto competition in Italy, where Danylo is expected to compete at the highest level, and the film asks plainly whether he can dance through what he has been through.
