After the Hamas attacks of October 7, 2023, and the war in Gaza that followed, this DW film follows Israelis and Palestinians who keep meeting each other anyway. Members of the Parents Circle - Families Forum and Combatants for Peace, groups made up of people who have lost relatives or once fought on opposite sides, gather each spring for a joint memorial ceremony honoring the dead of both communities. An Israeli-Palestinian film crew shoots the project itself, turning the making of the documentary into part of its subject: can two peoples produce a film together while the war they are living through keeps generating new grief. Interviews with participants lay out the pressure they face from their own societies, where reconciliation work is often seen as betrayal, alongside the personal loss that pushed them toward dialogue instead of retaliation. The film does not resolve whether peace is realistic; it stays with the ceremony, the arguments, and the discomfort of grieving alongside people your community considers the enemy.
