Every year, Thai men who turn 21 report to a local hall for a national ritual few outsiders ever see: the military draft lottery. Officials call names, and each man draws a card from a box. Black means exemption, a walk home and a normal life. Red means two years of compulsory service, sometimes in combat units, starting almost immediately. The film follows the day as it happens, tracking the wait, the drawing itself, and the reactions once a color is revealed, from relief to visible dread. Families crowd the room alongside the draftees, and the camera stays on faces rather than explaining the system for outsiders, letting the ceremony's own weight carry the scene. There is no narration pushing an argument for or against conscription; the mechanics of the lottery and the consequences of a single card draw are left to speak for themselves. It is a short, plain record of a moment that reroutes a young man's next two years by chance.
