Dunblane Primary School in Scotland is the site of the 1996 mass shooting this film revisits through the people who lived through it. Survivors and family members of the deceased give personal accounts, cut together with archive news footage and radio reports from the day itself, reconstructing how quickly and easily the gunman was able to enter a classroom and commit his crime. The film does not linger on graphic detail so much as on aftermath: the raw, unrehearsed testimony of people describing what changed in their community and in themselves. Its second half follows the survivors and bereaved families as they turn grief into political organizing, lobbying Parliament in a campaign that resulted in the tightest gun legislation in Europe. The film treats that legislative outcome as the direct, traceable consequence of ordinary people's sustained pressure rather than an automatic response to tragedy. It ends less on the shooting than on what a small town did afterward, using its own loss to force a change in national law.
