Geologist Iain Stewart traces how climate science became a battleground, starting with the scientists themselves. He walks through the field's own missteps in the 1970s, when some researchers predicted global cooling rather than warming, and shows how that stumble still gets used decades later to cast doubt on today's consensus. The film follows the buildup of evidence from ice cores, ocean temperature records, and atmospheric carbon measurements that eventually turned a fringe worry into mainstream science, while also tracking the political fights that followed, from industry-funded skepticism to international negotiations that repeatedly stalled. Stewart interviews scientists on different sides of specific disputes rather than presenting one unbroken narrative, treating the arguments over data and modeling as part of the story rather than noise to clear away. The result is less a nature documentary than a history of an argument, one that explains why a scientific question about carbon and temperature turned into a fight over policy, money, and trust.
