Georgia's electronic music scene grew out of an unlikely mix: a country with an ancient folk-music tradition where musicians started sampling New Wave and synth sounds in the late 1980s, then absorbed Soviet film scores and Western club culture after independence. This film follows six of its musicians. Nika Machaidze, who records as Nikakoi and Erasti, won the grand prix at the Paris Electronic Music Festival in 1999 and later released on Berlin's WMF label. Gogi Dzodzuashvili and Tusja Beridze, both part of the GOSLAB collective and signed to Germany's Max Ernst label, are filmed traveling to Germany together. Brothers Dima and Dada Dadiani live on opposite musical and geographic paths, one in Georgia, one producing London MCs. Baju, working out of Kutaisi, describes riding his bicycle to a car repair shop to charge his equipment whenever the city's power cuts out. Interviews, archive footage, music videos, and live performances, shot across Germany, the UK, and Georgia in 2005, trace an underground scene most of its own country barely knows exists.
