EP 1/6 Surviving the Cut – Ranger School
US Army Ranger School runs sixty-one days, and this is the first of six episodes following soldiers through it. The course is built to break people down under nonstop physical and mental stress, and this episode shows what that looks like on the ground: missions that run twenty hours straight, patrols through difficult terrain, and days spent on minimal food and almost no sleep. Interviews with instructors and candidates sit alongside footage of the training itself, so the exhaustion on camera has some context behind it. There's no narration pretending this is easy or glamorous; the point of the footage is to show the attrition happening in real time, long before graduation is anywhere in sight. As episode one, it sets up the stakes for the rest of the series rather than resolving anything, tracking the earliest stretch of a course designed specifically to find out who can keep functioning after their body wants to stop.
