Evolution: God’s Game?

The idea of evolution has long been a topic of controversy, especially among religious communities. While many scientists believe that it is a fact of nature, others view it as an affront to their religious beliefs. The documentary, “Evolution: God’s Game?” takes a Deistic approach to evolution, suggesting that it is simply one of the many tools in God’s repository.

The film delves into the history of evolution, exploring the reactions of society to Darwin’s theory of evolution. At the time of its publication, many people were unable to comprehend the idea that humans shared a common ancestor with modern African apes. This concept was a direct challenge to the prevailing religious beliefs of the time, which held that the Earth was only around 6,000 years old. Consequently, many religious concepts had to change to evolve alongside scientific discoveries.

The theory of evolution is still unacceptable to many religious belief systems, especially those who adhere to creationist thought. From their perspective, the mechanism proposed by Darwin renders the existence of God unnecessary. However, scientific reality has shown that humans share a common ancestor not only with gorillas and chimpanzees but also with other animals. Mammals and birds come from reptiles, which come from amphibians, which come from fish. Continuing back in time, we come to the single-cell organism, the father of all humanity and the most primitive version of Adam.
