Civilians in Darfur, the Nuba Mountains, and the Blue Nile region carry hidden cameras into the conflict zones the outside world rarely sees. Slovenian activist Tomo Križnar and his collaborators distributed nearly 200 of these cameras, along with satellite modems and laptops, teaching refugees how to film and upload footage of attacks, displacement, and daily survival directly from areas that journalists cannot reach. The film assembles this citizen-shot material into a record of violence that accelerated after Sudan split into two countries, following the footage from villages under bombardment to the improvised networks that get the files out to satellites and, eventually, to screens abroad. There are no professional camera crews or studio interviews here; the images are handheld, unpolished, and often shot by people who have never held a camera before, which is the point. The project treats the camera itself as a form of testimony, a way for people with no other means of reaching the outside world to put their own war on record before it disappears from view entirely.
