Anthony van der Meer's phone gets stolen, and he discovers how much of his life the thief now holds: photos, emails, contacts, messages. So he sets a trap. He lets a second phone get stolen, this one loaded with spyware, and uses it to watch the new owner from a distance, screen by screen. The film follows what that surveillance actually reveals about the man who ends up with the device, tracking his movements and habits through the phone's own cameras and location data. In the Netherlands, police log around 300 smartphone-theft reports a week, and van der Meer uses his own case as a way into that larger pattern of who steals phones and where they end up. The short keeps circling one open question: how much of a person can you really know from the contents of their pocket. It doesn't pretend to answer it, but the footage it gathers, spyware output turned into a portrait of a stranger, makes the question concrete instead of hypothetical.
